How To Change Your Thoughts To The Positive

How To Change Your Thoughts To The Positive

Although words themselves have no power they do have a great influence over our reactions to them. Words create thoughts and the saying, 'change thoughts change life', takes on a new meaning. Words or the thoughts they create, have been used to drive people to give up their lives in the name of their country, but on a lesser scale as far as most people are concerned, they have formed thoughts that create the character and personalities of individuals.

I do not know about you but if I look back on my childhood I was continually told, 'do not do that' or 'you cannot do that' by my parents and later by the teachers in the various schools I attended in the name of discipline. I think schools should devote time to developing positive thinking in our children. It would seem that people are more interested in correcting what children do wrong rather than commending them for what they manage to do right.

I recall that this did not do a great deal for my self-confidence for every time I was and to an extent still am faced with a situation my first thought tends to be 'why I cannot do it'. It is really only when individuals are exposed to management consultancy, business leadership and team building that they have a change of attitude sometimes through leadership development programs.

When I look back I realise that I had what is termed a strong personality as a child, I always wanted to be the leader at sport and ended up as the head boy in my final year. I suppose even then I was kicking back at authority and trying to impose my personality on my life by trying to think positive about my life. For every one of our positive children there are a thousand who who will always think of reasons why they cannot do a task. They carry this negative attitude into the adult life and fail to achieve most things in life. responding to the negative words fed to them as children they feel that life is passing them by.

So when they are told to change their attitude or to think positive thoughts - what is their immediate reaction?

'I cannot do that!'

The mistake many people make is that they think that they have to change negative thoughts to change life. Maybe you also have been told, by a management consulting team, that to make progress you have to take your negative thoughts and change them to positive thoughts?

I have some good news for you if that is the case, maybe that is also what is holding you back in your self improvement.

It is not easy to change attitude and re-programme your thoughts because they are your thoughts and they have been established by a constant drip feed over the span of your whole life.

Another theory is that when you have a negative thought - immediately change thoughts change life. Well with no disrespect to the teachers of that particular theory, I would find it very difficult to change my thought process when my negative thought is paramount and preventing me from doing something.

So what can you do?

Have you planned any social activity lately that took up all of your thoughts, such as a holiday. I can almost gurantee that in doing so you did not have a negative thought and if you did it was quickly replaced? Your mind was so filled with positive thoughts that you did not even consider being negative.

Planning the good events in life fills your mind with thoughts of happiness, perhaps laughter, when you are in that frame of mind there is no room for negativity.

That's the answer to negative thoughts. Don't try to change them, replace them.

At the start of each day look at what you have to do, even if you are in a mundane job doing the same thing every day. Whatever task you perfom in your daily work there is always something good if you look for it, determine now to duplicate that feeling at work today.

Look back on your day and select the best thing that happened to you during it. It may be something your have done or said or something that has been done or said to you but find one thing. It does not have to be a leadership development program, I do not mind what it is and we all have something good that happens sometime in a day that lasts between 15 and 18 hours. Write it down.

In the future you can glance back at your diary and you will read all the good things that have happened in your life, and I guarantee that if you are feeling low at the time you will quickly feel on top of the world.

Try it. It is FREE and it works, and as you read your successes you will find that change thought change life is true for you.

There is no doubt that there are certain moments in life when you feel helpless and disoriented and believe you could use some self improvement advice in order to figure out how to proceed with your life.

The answer is never simple. However, there is one self improvement advice that can be of great help and employed regularly will have great results.

It is called meditation and it has been used for centuries in certain rituals and by ancients civilizations. Even in old and famous books, like the Bible, people are invited to meditate, to discover and fight the evil in us and by knowledge to gain control over our decisions and our lives.

How do we proceed when meditating?

First of all, you need to be away from any source of distraction. You cannot analyze your deepest feelings and thoughts and watch a movie at the same time.

Secondly, you need to ask yourself a series of questions that will help you to better determine who you really are. The questions should relate to everyday aspects.

What do you like doing?

What made you most proud of yourself during your entire life?

What is it that you always wanted to do and you never found the time?

What role does money play in your life?

What is it more important for you, you family life or your career?

How much do you depend on others?

If you are worried about a certain decision, let all the questions be related to that issue. If you are just confused when asking the questions, think about the common topics that one has to deal with during his life.

Do not forget to write down the answers. Try to concentrate and to be sincere. After all, nobody will judge you.

All these questions will help you determine exactly where you stand and what is it that you want form life. All you have to do is to get the right interpretation of your own replies.

In order to do that, help yourself to a coup of tea or your favorite coffee and take the time to analyze them thoroughly. Mark with a red pen whatever you find pride worthy answers and with a black one the things that do not make you proud.

Post the list somewhere where you can see it more than once a day, or post it in more than one place.

You will notice that, step by step, even unwillingly, the black things on your list will start turning red. Do not forget to renew the list when most of it has turned red! It is the best way to always be aware what your expectations from life are.

Important Points In Self Improvement

Important Points In Self Improvement

What are the three keys to self improvement and motivation?

1. INSPIRATION.

Inspiration is critical to staying motivated and improving oneself. If you are not interested in your business, your motivation level will never be high and you will not be able to sustain interest for very long.

Take an honest look at your inspiration level. Are you excited about going to work or is it an obligation? You would be surprised at the number of people who choose a business that looks good on paper, but in reality does not interest them in the least.

These individuals will grow weary and uninterested pretty quickly because they have no inspiration or passion to sustain them during the difficult times they will encounter as a small business owner.

If you do not like your work, then think how you can re-focus your small business to better match your needs. Or consider making a change entirely. Without inspiration, there will not be motivated to even try self improvement.

2. SETTING GOALS.

Short and long-term goal setting is vital for any business owner. If you do not set goals, you would have no definite purpose on which path of self improvement to take.

How could you possibly be motivated if you were unsure about the direction of your company?

Take the time to put your goals in writing. A business plan may sound daunting, but it is really nothing more than goals, strategies, implementation and a budget. Write your own business plan and update it at least annually.

Include "mini-goals" that can be accomplished in a matter of hours, days or weeks as well as the more ambitious "grand-goals" that may take years to complete. Refer to this plan throughout the year.

But can a business plan really help motivate you? Of course. Written goals will make you feel more professional and certainly more connected to your business. It will also free you from having to reinvent your business goals every single day.

3. NETWORKING.

Another key factor in getting and staying motivated is networking with other small business owners. No one person knows all the knowledge.

However, when a number of people begin working together, the challenges will just be there waiting to be conquered.

In fact, the isolation of working alone is of one the most difficult parts of being an entrepreneur. You can never be on your way to self improvement without the help of others. Mutual support is motivating.
Make it easier on yourself by connecting with others either in your community or online. Even when businesses are not related, you will often find common ground and ways to work together.

Many successful entrepreneurs report that finding the right networking group was a turning point in the growth of the business. Working together, a networking group can help its members generate more qualified sales leads and solve problems faster and more efficiently.

Sharing ideas, expertise and experience is also an invaluable aspect of motivation and self improvement.
Your own personal team of business owners will help re-energize you when the burdens of running your own business seem too much.

With your networking team to rely on, you can accomplish more in less time and probably have more fun in the process. You will feel motivated to accomplish self improvement when you know you are not alone.

What Does Your Body Do When You Tell A Lie?

What Does Your Body Do When You Tell A Lie?
30th March 2009
Author: Michael Lee

Ever thought about what does your body do when you tell a lie? If not, then you should pay closer attention to it since it can be valid indicators of lying.

Body language effectively communicates what your lips are trying to cover up. Some people are very good detectors of physical manifestations shown by those who are lying, especially those who are not very comfortable with the fact that they had to lie.

Exactly, what does your body do when you tell a lie? This article shows some nonverbal indicators considered as red alert signs for potential liars. Here's a few telling indicators:

1) Limited physical movement to the point of becoming stiff, thus causing the liar to take up minimal space.

2) They tend to make unnecessary gestures such as touching the face, hair, mouth, or some other body parts, which is uncharacteristic of them.

3) You will notice that they cannot produce an open hand.

4) If the person is standing up, you will notice their uneasiness. Also, they cannot stand straight up and always transferring their body's weight from one side to another.

5) Expressions made during a conversation are limited to the mouth instead of the entire face.

Interactions and Responses

When a person is required to speak or respond, then this is your opportunity to assess any behaviors previously exhibited by the person in question.

For example, when they are asked about a given scenario, they tend to become defensive instead of explaining things offensively. And when they are speaking, they might tend to look away from you.

Meanwhile, a few others will subconsciously place objects in between you and the liar such that they create some sort of barrier between the two of you.

When using these indicators though, you need to be extra careful. You have to make sure that these aren't a person's innate mannerism, so you can avoid misinterpreting the signs on what does your body do when you tell a lie, and you won’t arrive at an immature judgment of the situation.
